What is a Smile Makeover?
A smile makeover improves your smile through one or more cosmetic dental procedures. Taking into account your face shape, skin tone, and hair color, as well as the shape, shade and size of your teeth and lips, we craft a treatment plan individualized to you. Depending on your unique needs, we will recommend a variety of procedures, including dental veneers, teeth whitening, composite bonding and even dental implants.
What Issues Can a Smile Makeover Fix?
There are several issues that can be fixed through cosmetic dentistry, and some that cannot.
• |
Alignment - Crooked, gaps, or overlapping teeth can be straightened using Invisalign® or traditional orthodontics. Minor defects can be improved with the use of dental veneers.
|
• |
Broken teeth - Dental veneers can be placed over broken or chipped teeth to improve the harmony of your smile.
|
• |
Color - Yellow, discolored or stained teeth can be improved 5-10 shades with in-office whitening. Fillings made of unsightly silver or amalgam can be replaced with tooth-colored fillings. When choosing a color for veneers, crowns or bridges, we utilize your skin color and tone in order to craft the most natural look for your new teeth.
|
• |
Gums - Gums that sit too low on your teeth can be fixed with an aesthetic gum lift, evening out your teeth and making them look more even and normal-sized.
|
• |
Missing teeth - Missing teeth can change your bite, diminish the bone density in your jaw, and increase your risk for tooth decay. We can replace missing teeth utilizing dental implants, bridges or partial dentures.
|
• |
Sagging facial structure - restoring your teeth and jaw can help make your face look younger and healthier. |
Cosmetic dentistry procedures cannot fix severely misaligned teeth, severe periodontal disease, tooth decay, jaw disorders, or a crooked bite.
Keep Your Smile Looking Great!
Once you’ve had a successful smile makeover, it is important to put in the hard work to keep your smile looking great. Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing your teeth twice daily, avoid food and drinks that can stain your teeth, such as tea, and coffee, and visit us regularly for checkups and cleaning.
Depending on which procedures you get, your new smile may require some extra upkeep. To keep your teeth white, you may need to occasionally repeat the whitening process. Veneers may chip or break, requiring replacement. Crowns typically need to be replaced every 10-15 years. When we create your smile plan, we take this upkeep into account and make sure you are fully informed of all future follow-up and upkeep you will need to do.
How Much Does It Cost?
The cost of a smile makeover varies widely depending on the extent and type of work that needs to be done. Some procedures, such as dental implants and orthodontics, may be covered at least in part by your dental insurance. However, many other procedures, such as tooth whitening, aesthetic gum lifts and veneers, are considered cosmetic and are unlikely to be covered by your insurance.
